A Busy 2026 Season and Plenty of Firsts at Skagway Brewing

A season of awards, new styles, new ingredients and record-setting brewery production.

The 2026 brewing season brought several firsts to Skagway Brewing Company, from new beverage styles and ingredients to a People’s Choice award at Haines Beerfest.

A season of firsts

The team introduced its first house root beer, first hard seltzer, first fruit beer, first fresh-hop ale and first coffee-driven beer. The fresh-hop batch used Citra hops that made the trip from an Oregon farm to the Skagway brew process in roughly 15 hours.

New beer directions

The rotating Off Broadway IPA shifted toward a West Coast profile, while a Golden Stout paired coffee with cacao nibs. An American Strong Ale and a collaborative Wee Heavy with Woodcutter’s Blanket joined the strong-beer program.

By the numbers

The brewery reported 738.38 barrels of beer in 2025 and 801.99 barrels so far in 2026, about 8.6% above the prior full-year beer total. Including hard seltzer and root beer, reported 2026 production reached 923.59 barrels.
