The people behind BrewCo

Beer is a team sport.

The best part of BrewCo’s story is that the brewery, kitchen and farm do not operate as separate worlds. The people behind them share ideas, ingredients, systems and a very Skagway willingness to figure things out.

01

Owner

Michael “Mike” Healy

Public BrewCo stories identify Mike Healy as the owner and connect him directly to the brewery’s flagship Spruce Tip Blonde, the indoor-farm vision, and cross-border brewery collaborations.

02

Head Brewer

Tyler Mills

Tyler joined BrewCo after brewing and winemaking experience in Oregon and took over the brewhouse after working alongside Dan “Doc” Nelson. His recent work spans German styles, fresh-hop beer, strong ales and rotating IPA experiments.

03

Assistant Brewer

Jacob “Jake” Waldren

Jake is part of the current brewing team and has led experimental work including the rotating Off Broadway IPA program and BrewCo’s first fruit beer, a Blueberry Cream Ale.

04

BrewCo Legacy

Dan “Doc” Nelson

Doc joined in 2008, helped shape both kitchen and brewery culture, influenced the Spruce Tip Ale fish batter and house recipes, and helped inspire the idea that eventually became the third-floor aeroponic farm.

05

Indoor Farm

John Michael Mead

John leads the third-floor farm and its controlled-environment growing program, working with the brewhouse and kitchen on CO₂ reuse, nutrient systems, weekly produce needs and the long-term push toward greater self-sufficiency.

06

Farm + Kitchen

Bryce Tillman

Bryce supports the indoor farm part time while also working on the kitchen line, creating a direct link between the food being grown upstairs and the dishes served downstairs.

A living handoff

Keep the core. Keep experimenting.

The brewery’s published stories describe a lineage from the original modern head brewer Trevor, through Doc and Jasen Brand, to today’s team. The flagship lineup stays recognizable while seasonal releases, collaborations and new ingredients keep the brewhouse moving forward.

Beer meets farm

The brewhouse sends CO₂ upstairs.

The current farm team works with the brewery and kitchen to turn a brewing by-product into a growing input, coordinate weekly produce needs and keep fresh greens moving from the third floor to the plate.
